Appletrewick is in the heart of the Wharfe Dale.
Below are some photos showing some of the attractions within the local
area (many within walking distance). There is an abundance of places to
visit and things to do to suit all ages and energy levels. Children
enjoy a walk to the river to feed the ducks, Hesketh Farm, Embsay Steam
Railway, children's fishing, pony trekking, scrambling up the gorge at
Troller's Gill, swimming in the river, playing on the rocks. For the
more energetic there are many scenic walks from the door including the
Dales Way following the banks of the River Wharfe as well as
Simon’s Seat (1600ft/485m), the valley of desolation,
Troller’s Gill and Strid Wood at
Bolton Abbey. See below for links to
local attractions and a map showing the cottage location.
