Appletrewick is in the heart of the Wharfe Dale. Below are some photos showing some of the attractions within the local area (many within walking distance). There is an abundance of places to visit and things to do to suit all ages and energy levels. Children enjoy a walk to the river to feed the ducks, Hesketh Farm, Embsay Steam Railway, children's fishing, pony trekking, scrambling up the gorge at Troller's Gill, swimming in the river, playing on the rocks. For the more energetic there are many scenic walks from the door including the Dales Way following the banks of the River Wharfe as well as Simon’s Seat (1600ft/485m), the valley of desolation, Troller’s Gill and Strid Wood at Bolton Abbey.  See below for links to local attractions and a map showing the cottage location.
